Rock City
This is the seven states flag court - Alabama,
Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and
Virginia. During the famous battle of Lookout Mountain, both a Union
officer and a Confederate nurse wrote in separate diary entries that you
could see seven states from this point. While you probably can't -
it's fun to imagine you can!
The picture below is a panoramic shot I took.
On the right side is the seven states flag court. |

October is 'Rocktoberfest' in Rock
City. On the pavillion is a live German band playing. They
were singing 'In Heaven There Is No Beer'. My friend Sherry didn't
know the song. Being a good German girl - I did! The song
stayed in my head all day. (That's why we drink it here is the next line
of the song).
There were gnomes all over the place and we took a
picture with a live gnome.
One of the fudge shops had a great sign I thought
I'd share with all of you! |

Here's the Swing Along Bridge. It
stretches a full 180 feet through the blue sky. Every step you take
causes it to swing a little. The secret is ' don't look down!' |
 |
Here's the Goblin Underpass on the left,
the Mushroom stone on the lower left and one of the many stone bridges you
will see. |

According to folklore, a young brave
named Sautee fell deeply in love with Nacoochee, a beautiful Cherokee
maiden. Nacoochee loved Sautee as well, but their tribes were engaged in a
bitter feud. The two finally ran off together, but Sautee was soon
captured and thrown from from the tip of Lovers' Leap. The despairing
Nacoochee quickly followed her lover, leaping to her own death far below. |
