This picture was taken
from the Parthenon -- we were standing at the stone railing around the
Parthenon and this is what you saw when you looked over. This is a
good shot of how Athens looks, without the old buildings. |

The woman with the orange/yellow bag
is me! I'm standing next to Athena's temple at the Acropolis.
If you look at the ground, that is marble and can be very slippery.
Also, in September the honey bees were out. Cruzanne got stung -
they do like perfume very much! |
| Another great shot from the Acropolis- the
Carytids! |

See the dandelion growing out of the
marble? Amazing how those weeds can grow anywhere. |
| The Parthenon again! |

This picture was taken on the steps in
the Plaka. You go up these steps, turn to the right, follow the
crowd and end up at the Acropolis. There are restaurants up and down
the steps and at the top as well. It's pretty easy to find a good
cup of coffee and some Greek pastry, sit down and watch the crowds.
A great way to pass an hour or two in the hot afternoon. |
| There was this piece of marble, the base of a
tower, asking me to sit on it. So I did, for about 45 minutes and just
stared out at Athens, turned around and looked at the Parthenon (behind me
in the picture) - and just was peaceful. |

I'm standing on the path at the bottom
of the Acropolis. The theatre is behind me (see the arches?). |
| This is me on the balcony of our hotel room.
We stayed at the Golden Tulip Electra Palace. It's right in
the heart of the Plaka, with a great view of the Acropolis. At night
we could watch the light show from our room! |

A really beautiful
bar in Athens in the Plaka. |
